Each year my daughters give me a call and we wish each other a Happy Mother’s Day and talk about what our plans are for our special day.  Usually, all we want to do it veg out or maybe spoil ourselves with something that we don’t normally do.

Well, this year Mother’s Day came a day early for me.

Yesterday, as I was all sweaty and dirty in the yard fighting mutant weeds, Rick comes home and walks back to the garden.  We chat for a moment and I hear those immortal words, “Honey, I did something today.”

Uh oh.  This can only mean one thing:  he bought something.  Usually it’s not a small something either.

So I put down my pruning sheers, take off my gloves and turn around to see him standing there with a boyish grin on his face and his hands behind his back.

Well, this is going to be good, I thought.

The next thing I know he is producing a small box from a bag and getting down on one knee (remember, I’m amongst dirt and leaves here) and opens up a box to reveal this:

My Mother’s Day/20th Anniversary present.

1/2 carat tw Marquise set diamond ring.

I certainly didn’t see that one coming.

This man spoils the hell out of me!

So after some hugging, kissing and love talk, we enter back into the reality that he needs to go back to the shop and finish some work.  But before he does, he gets the mail and brings me a box and some cards that are addressed to me.

Cards from both of my daughters and a little framed heart from Nichole with the phrase “For a love like no other, I thank my Mother.”  Yeah, my kids like to make me cry.

Nichole also sent me this cut little magnet for the refrigerator.  I couldn’t have said it better.

So how will I be spending today?  Rick & I will be going to see his Mom at his sister’s house.  It’s a bit of a hike, but he wants to give her his Mother’s Day present in person.  He’s such a good son.

Thank you Rick, Christine and Nichole for letting me know how special I am to you.  I love you all!!
