We always have activities going on at the college where I work.

Yesterday was the Sustainable Living Fair.  As always, this is an event that is open to the whole community and costs nothing to come to.

The Ojibwe have a special connection to the earth, and the college always makes it known that they are very much into recycling and sustainability.  We even have a Green Carpentry certificate program!

Look at all the neat things that they had going on!

And what goes better with a fair than food!  And believe me, whenever there are doins in Indian Country, there is sure to be LOTS of food!!

A  nice little bonus that went along with this (for me anyway) is that I got to be one of the judges for the Contest Potluck.  *Happy Dance*

I got to pick my own categories that I wanted to judge, so I took Desserts and Breads.  Oh man, was I ever in trouble.  These people could really bake!!  Unfortunately, I could only pick one winner from each category based on the criteria for our judging, but eventually I narrowed it down.

It was so nice to see some of my previous customers from my store there and catch up on how they are doing.  I miss them so much, and they miss me.

*sigh*

But I know that there is a reason for my current employment status, and I’m very grateful that I have this type of environment to work in.  I love what I do and the people I work with are simply the best.

And really, when these types of events happen, how could I not be happy?
